The reigning World Cup champion U.S. Women’s National Team is coming to play in the Aloha State.

The reigning World Cup champion U.S. Women’s National Team is coming to play in the Aloha State.

The team will play in Hawaii on Dec. 6. at Aloha Stadium as part of the Victory Tour, USWNT and the Hawaii Tourism Authority announced on Thursday.

The US will take on Trinidad and Tobago in the match. The game is scheduled for 3 p.m. and televised on Fox Sports 1.

“We are excited and honored that the U.S. Women’s National Team will play in Hawaii for the first time,” said George D. Szigeti, HTA president and CEO. “With our year-round temperate climate, Hawaii is an ideal location to host this premier sporting event. We look forward to welcoming the team, their families and the fans to experience the Hawaiian Islands. Soccer is one of the most popular sports worldwide and having the USWNT here will showcase our ability to host sporting events of this caliber.”

In July, the USWNT beat Japan to take home the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup title. The Victory Tour began on Aug. 16 in Pittsburgh, and the US women have faced Haiti and Costa Rice each twice in four games. The US Women have outscored opponents 28-2 so far. Honolulu will be the seventh stop of a 10 city tour, and the first of four games in an 11-day span.

This is the first time that the USWNT has played in the Hawaiian Islands, and it will be just the second soccer match between national teams staged at Aloha Stadium. In 1976, the Philippines defeated Chinese Taipei 1-0 at the venue.

“When I took this job I was told of the importance of having a wide footprint in terms of where we bring the team to play and this first-ever game in Hawaii certainly stays true to that goal,” said US head coach Jill Ellis. “We always enjoy going to new markets and giving fans across the country, and in December across the Pacific Ocean, a chance to see the team play. I know the players and staff are very excited about going to Hawaii and we are looking forward to the experience of being on Oahu and playing this historic match against T&T at the Aloha Stadium.”

Information on ticket sales will be announced at a later date. For more information on the USWNT or the game, visit ussoccer.com.
